海外ソーシャルイノベーションアワード World Summit Award 2023：日本からプロジェクト募集

World in You では、社会的ミッションを持つ日本の組織が海外展開や海外パートナーと協働するサポートをしており、World Summit Award（WSA）の日本からの推薦を行うCountry Expertをつとめています。

デジタルイノベーションを通じて社会課題解決に取り組む組織（非営利団体・営利企業共に可）・個人の方のプロジェクト・事業を探していますので、

WSAについて

WSAは、国連により2003年に開催された世界情報社会サミット（World Summit on the Information Society）を端として、15年以上続くアワードで、デジタル・イノベーションを通じて世界を良くしていくスタートアップ、非営利団体、企業等を毎年40団体選出しています。受賞者は、2024年4月14～17日にパタゴニア（チリ）で開催予定のWorld Congressにチームから2名招待され、世界180か国以上の起業家やエクスパートとのネットワークができます。

応募要件

・デジタルアプリケーションを通じて、地域社会にソーシャルインパクトをもたらすサービス・商品。
・ソーシャルインパクトに関しては、以下8つの分野カテゴリのいずれかにあてはまるサービス・商品。

  • GOVERNMENT & CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT
  • HEALTH & WELL BEING
  • LEARNING & EDUCATION
  • ENVIRONMENT & GREEN ENERGY
  • CULTURE & TOURISM
  • SMART SETTLEMENTS & URBANIZATION
  • BUSINESS & COMMERCE
  • INCLUSION & EMPOWERMENT

・デジタルアプリケーションには、モバイル アプリケーション、SMSベースのサービス、ウェブ・ページ、データベース、キオスク端末、ウェアラブル、デバイス、IoT などが含まれます。
・応募時点で、ローンチから2年以内、あるいは、主要なアップデート/アップグレード/イノベーションから2年以内のサービス・商品。
・既に市場でローンチしており、利用者がいること。

評価基準

5 Technical Criteria

  • CONTENT | Quality and comprehensiveness, content richness, local language
  • FUNCTIONALITY | Ease of use, user experience, appropriate interactivity and functions
  • DESIGN | Navigation / Orientation and visual appeal, appropriate design for target group
  • TECHNOLOGY | State of the art in technology and quality of technical realisation, appropriate use of technology (local context/target group)
  • INNOVATION | Originality and newness to targeted users, society and market, local ecosystem, business model

2 Strategic Criteria – social/societal

  • IMPACT | Local Impact / Impact on community & society
  • VALUE | Addressing UN SDGs, narrowing digital divide, global relevance, potential

応募／推薦・審査のプロセス

WSAでは、まず、世界180か国以上で、各国のCountry Expertのリードのもと、最大8つまでの推薦プロジェクトが選ばれます。
（上記「応募要件」内の、ソーシャルインパクトの分野カテゴリで、各カテゴリについて1つまでプロジェクト推薦が各国からできます。）
その後、それらの推薦プロジェクトが、グローバルの審査員グループによって審査され、受賞者が決まります。

今年のスケジュールは下記のとおりです。

    • 2023年9月末まで：　応募したい・推薦したいプロジェクトがある方は、World in Youまでこちらのフォームからご連絡ください。（リンク訂正しました 9/15/2023）
    • 10月17日まで：　World in Youにて、日本からの推薦プロジェクトを最大8つまで選ばせていただきます。
    • 11月3日まで：　推薦が決まった団体には、WSAへの正式な応募書類を英語でご準備いただきます。World in Youから応募書類へのフィードバックもします。
    • 11～12月：　WSA Online Jury が、全世界から集まったプロジェクトを審査し、ショートリストを選びます。
    • 2024年1月：　WSA Shortlisted solutionsの発表
    • 2月：　WSA Grand Jury がWSA ShortlistからWSA winnersを選びます。
    • 4月14～17日：　WSA WinnersがWSA Global Congress Patagonia, Chileに招待され受賞式に参加します。

日本からの過去の受賞団体

一般社団法人WheeLogが、2019年にWorld Summit AwardのGlobal Championを受賞しました。

WheeLogからのメッセージ

一般社団法人WheeLogは車いすでもあきらめない世界をつくるために、主にみんなでつくるバリアフリーマップアプリ「WheeLog!」を開発運営しています。

WSAはWITの山本未生さんにご紹介いただき知りました。支援を頂きながら日本からの推薦団体として応募した結果、2019年にWSAでGlobal Championを受賞することができました。

WSAはWheeLog!を世界展開を模索する中で大きな足掛かりになったと思います。WSAをきっかけに臆することなく挑戦した結果、MIT SOLVEやドバイ万博Expo Liveでの受賞に繋がりました。また、海外での受賞は日本におけるWheeLog!への見方も変わり、メディアや企業からの注目度が上がりました。

WSAから日本の皆さんへのメッセージ

“Over the last years, Japan has proven to be a gem in terms of content richness, digital creativity and forward-thinking. Even more so it is necessary to build a strong international network to foster quality content and make the world know. This is why we strongly appreciated and encourage especially local Japanese content to apply for WSA, a unique global community, and platform for purpose-driven digital entrepreneurship.

In 2018, Wheelog! from Japan proved itself in the category “Smart Settlements & Urbanization”, and has benefitted greatly not only from the connection to the WSA network, but also from the exposure to a worldwide audience – a unique and outstanding innovation for the good of society. The team of Wheelog! has since then been involved in other WSA activities multiple times.

And WSA would love to see more unique teams from Japan!

WSA is a non-monetary award system with a focus on sustainable knowledge transfer through a worldwide network. This means that winners benefit not from a one-time financial reward, but a lifelong partnership and integration.

The benefits of applying to WSA are multiple, not only applicants registered in the WSA database receive tailored opportunities in the future, but it also provides a unique opportunity to be evaluated by an international expert Jury. Of course, WSA winners are invited to the WSA global Congress, where they receive their awards, but also benefit from a program shaped for social entrepreneurs and beyond.

The application process itself is quite simple, the shorter and precise it is, the better, videos and other marketing material can be in Japanese.
